Delete Your Account & Data

Last updated: July 2026

You can delete your GoPals account yourself, at any time, straight from the app. This page explains exactly how it works and what happens to your data.

How to delete your account

It's self-service, no email request and no waiting on us:

  1. Open GoPals and sign in.
  2. Go to Member Profile.
  3. Scroll to Delete my account, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Permanently delete.
Open GoPals

What happens, immediately

When you confirm, it happens right away, there's no 30-day hold or recovery window:

What stays, and why

GoPals is built around shared group records, expenses, pool contributions, RSVPs, and the like, that other members rely on to be accurate. So instead of deleting those shared entries (which would corrupt everyone else's totals and history), we detach them from you:

We describe this the same way in our Privacy Policy: your personal data is removed, while shared group history is preserved under "Former member."

One thing to do first, if it applies

If you're the sole admin of any group, deletion is blocked until you promote another member to admin, a group can never be left with no admin. GoPals will tell you if this is the case when you try. Promote someone else in that group's Admin settings, then delete your account.

Signing up again later

Deleting your account doesn't ban you from GoPals. If you sign in again in the future, you'll start fresh as a brand-new account. Your old "Former member" entries stay with the groups they belonged to and aren't linked back to you.

Download your data first

Deletion can't be undone, so if you want a copy of your data, export it before you delete. You can do that any time from the app.
