Welcome to GoPals. By accessing or using our platform at gopals.app (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
GoPals is a shared life-admin platform for groups, friends, teams, clubs, or anyone who does things together, to coordinate a pooled fund, expense splitting, activities, checklists, polls, and photos. References to "we," "us," or "GoPals" refer to the GoPals platform and its operators.
You create an account by signing in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity that occurs under it. You must be at least 13 years old to use GoPals. While GoPals is invite-only, a new account also needs a platform admin's approval before it can create or join a group.
Anyone can create a group and becomes its first admin. Admins can invite members, promote co-admins, and manage group settings. A group can never be left without at least one admin, if you're the only one, you must promote someone else before you can leave or step down. Any member can leave a group they belong to on their own, at any time.
You agree to:
GoPals tracks who contributed what and who owes what within a group's shared pool and expenses. It does not process, hold, or transfer real money. Any actual payment between members happens directly between them, outside the platform, however they choose. GoPals is not a payment processor, money transmitter, or financial institution, and is not responsible for whether members actually settle up with each other.
A group's admin can choose to publish a public page for that group at a gopals.app address, and can choose to turn it off again at any time. People can request to join a group through its public page; an admin decides whether to approve or deny each request.
You retain ownership of the content you add to GoPals, photos, notes, checklist items, and the rest. By adding content, you grant GoPals a limited licence to store and display it to the other members of the relevant group, solely to provide the Service. If you believe content on GoPals infringes your copyright, contact us at hello@gopals.app with a description of the content and your rights in it, and we'll investigate and remove infringing content where appropriate.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
GoPals is currently free to use while invite-only. Once GoPals opens more broadly, we intend to introduce an optional, per-group subscription paid by whichever admin manages that group, not a per-member charge, unlocking extras beyond the free tier's core features. The core group-coordination features (Pool, Activities, expense splitting, Polls, Wishlist, Calendar) are intended to stay free for every group regardless of any paid tier. We'll give reasonable advance notice, and the chance to opt out, before anything you're already using starts requiring payment.
GoPals is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any data will never be lost, though we take reasonable steps to prevent that.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GoPals and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Where liability can't be fully excluded, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (a) $100 USD, or (b) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose. GoPals does not mediate or adjudicate disputes between group members, including disputes over money, expenses, or group decisions, those are solely between the members involved.
You agree to indemnify and hold GoPals and its operators harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or a third party's rights.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or are otherwise harmful to other users or the Service. You may delete your own account at any time from your Member Profile.
If a disagreement arises between you and GoPals about these Terms or the Service, we'd genuinely rather resolve it directly, contact us first at hello@gopals.app and we'll make a good-faith effort to work it out. Any dispute that can't be resolved this way will be handled in the courts of the jurisdiction named in Section 16, and each of us agrees to that venue.
We're not liable for any failure or delay in providing the Service caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages at our infrastructure providers (such as Supabase or Cloudflare), natural disasters, or other circumstances we couldn't reasonably have prevented.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws in the jurisdiction where a dispute arises, without regard to conflict of law principles.
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account to anyone else. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, and will notify you if we do.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and GoPals regarding the Service, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll note significant changes on this page. Continuing to use GoPals after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

This document was written to be genuinely thorough and grounded in what GoPals actually does, but it is not a substitute for review by a real lawyer. Treat it as a solid starting point, not final legal sign-off, especially before GoPals has any paying users or grows meaningfully beyond a small invite-only group.
